Ed Moorman has been gushing about some fancy pens that he jizzes all over every day. So i bought one of each without hesitation and everything feels nice. I drew these today with various implements found at the bottom of my backpack. and some, just some, with the fancy pen.

its been awhile, huh? I have been living in the void. today, after much time away from the blogosphere, i stumbled upon Kelley Abeln's blog and felt a surge of excitement. she posted a photobooth diary of the past year, and i decided i would follow suit! I made a photobooth diary that begins when i first got my computer and ends today. Enjoy!

I watched Return to Oz tonight with Shea and Kelly. I Decided it is probably my favorite movie. And I have seen a lot of movies. I guess Toby will have to tell Hassoun that my favorite isn't The 400 Blows, which takes away all my street cred. But I dont CARE. The truth is more important.

Watching this movie without Molly was weird. We know the entire thing by heart. Even the motions and the sounds are lodged somewhere in my memory, like when Aunt Em washes eggs. I used to do this with plastic easter eggs in the sand on my grandma's lake.

so, having a name that starts not only with A, but with Ab means that whenever someone's phone accidentally calls someone, it accidentally calls me. i get a lot of frightening voice mails that i am forced to try and decode. a couple of nights ago, Corey's phone called me repeatedly throughout the night. apparently, she spilled mountain dew all over her phone before going to bed. as she slept, her phone left me several ghostly dead-air messages. they freaked me. tonight i got a five minute long message from an unknown number in virginia that i, after minutes of listening to it, realized was a warbled version of the cha-cha slide, being played in some sort of club. oh my life as a name starting with A. thanks, world.

on another note,
jack and i watched a horrible queer movie a few nights ago called, not surprisingly, Querelle.
for the second half of the film, i tried not to barf (truly). after jack left, i laid in front of the toilet for a half hour...
and slept with a bucket next to my bed. but this had nothing to do with the film. it was probably from eating expired vegan cookies.
anyway, here. take a few minutes and watched this abridged version:

anywho, this evening eileen and i relaxed and partook in one of our favorite pastimes, lesbian film club.
we watched one called High Art.
it was pretty good.
except that, like almost all queer movies, it ended in the main character dying.
and really, the plot was moving somewhere. somewhere good. somewhere interesting. when all of a sudden, she dies. we dont even know how. and that really was it. cut and print. stupid. anyway, her lover is this creepy german actress who apparently gained fame starring in Fassbinder films.
now, i didn't really know who this Fassbinder fellow was, but i figured i should know, because he is mentioned in two Laurie Anderson songs. so i IMDB'd him after High Art petered out.
apparently, he wrote and directed Querelle.

i feel like i deserve an apology from everyone involved.

i just wanted to say hey,
ive been sproutin.

black beans, pinto beans, and brown rice.

and let me tell you, when i first saw those little tails peaking out, i could have cried.
we did a project in second grade, finding out if red, blue, yellow, or sunlight would grow a plant the fastest. i dont remember which light i used, but my plant never grew. nothing. it was heartbreaking, as were many things in gradeschool. however, i feel completely redeemed and elated now, due to my sprouts. however, i worry that they may secretly rot and i will have no idea.
ACCUENTUATE THE POSITIVE.
anyway, speaking of beans, i also started a new book called "the beans of egypt, maine" which arrived in the mail yesterday. it was a complete impulse buy, that sprang fourth after reading this article, sent to me by Jessica Leigh Gravedigger Ferlic.

on a happier note
molly and i are making big plans for our futures.
we just spent two hours on the phone researching tiny houses.
want one? JOIN US. we will be in mountains.
the pictures say so. (well, not this particular one).

these houses are made/designed by tumbleweed tiny house company.
currently we are most interested in the Lusby, because it affords us our privacy (two bedrooms!). we already decided what items of ours get to stay and which have to go, for example: the saw will obviously be the instrument of choice because it is nearly one dimensional and multifunctional, the comic book collections are of great importance, whereas the seashell collection will probaby have to go. also, my globe is non-negotiable. molly made the exec. decision that we have to get a dog? which seems counterintuitive.

first, the good.
i have been listening to scott joplin, drinking lemonade, and reading fried green tomatoes. living a life of book sin delicious. truly.

now, the anger comes.

now you know its hard to trust a storyteller who only trusts their own story about ninety percent. but let me tell you, i think that this happened last night.
alright.
my neighbors are incredible, the loudest.
i hate them.
i really can't stand them.
they wake me up at 3 a.m. blaring their music.

they are doing so right now. actually, i think they are watching a movie about engines revving, because thats all im hearing from up there.

well last night was the last straw, because i swear to god, some computer or something of theirs was screaming an electronic bingo game. at 4 a.m. loud as monsters. i could hear every letternumber, i could have played along. but i was too angry. B14. G38. BINGO---------this is the most ridiculous thing that has ever kept me up at night. i had anger coursing through my veins like so many snakes. and i have been having nightmares.

spent the past two days vacationing with jane in and around my house and home. lake hariett and naps took shape, watching the glenn gordon sail across the water. front lawn, listening to kate bush and painting. reading fannie flagg and eating mozarella cheese outside. tonight, there have been rilled vegetables with carissa, babs, jane, and the germs. goodbye, yellow brick road.

but its not all fantasy. i will admit spare moments for lost... (which is what i typed into google to find this beauty.) missing my locals ed, eileen, jenny... and the not-so-locals, leslie and molly, to name a few. come home to me so we can eat beer.

this is one of the most beautiful images i have probably ever seen.its a map of the mississippi river, with it's changes over the years, from 1944. the original book is from is available free, on the internet, which is amazing. i got a glowing globe for my room and currently am working on a map collection.

i recently finished the second book of several regarding one Chris Crean. This is his highschool yearbook. complete with the statements he wrote on other people's pictures. Crean, apparently, didn't fully understand the way yearbooks work, writing his sentiments and comments for and to others in his own. It has a color cover, black and white interior. Printed on the konika semi-gloss paper. If you are interested in purchasing/trading for one, let me know!

We drove down to New Orleans last week. I had not intended to go, but about 15 hours before the planned exodus, i decided to tag along.

Here are a few rubbings from new orleans, la and mobile, al. i am a printmaker, always and forever, especially in graveyards. i just happened to have a broken pencil in my backpack. but i want to start traveling with a chunk of graphite and a large sketchbook.

the last rubbing is the best. can you see where it says "broken and ill"? what a thing to have on your grave.

the year 2007 ended in a remarkable way for me.
let me tell you all about it.
eileen and i were at the grocers, picking up tortillas for dinner.
as we were leaving, a fifty-something woman noticed my shoelace was untied.
she yelled to me, "hey! do you need me to tie your shoelace?"
i figured she was only letting me know. i said, "oh no, its alright! i'll get it later."
she stopped me, and said "no, here."
she knelt down. tied my shoe slowly, with so much care.
wrapped her hands around the ankle of the shoe to make sure it was snug, asked me if it was too tight. and complimented my laces.
when she was done, she lifted her hand for me to assist her in getting up.
she was incredible.
she made 2007 an amazing year. and in the nick of time, too.
